Alan Wright: Former Premier League full-back was U16s coach at Manchester City 

FORMER Aston Villa full-back Alan Wright has left Manchester City’s Academy after a decade.

The 52-year-old coached City’s Under-16s and has now joined Harwick Sports Management, which is run by Steve Blatherwick and David Hartley.

There has been massive change inCity’s Academy during the last two years. The man at the helm, Jason Wilcox, left his role as Academy Director last summer after more than a decade to become Director of Football at Southampton. He was replaced by German Thomas Krucken.

Other departures have included:

  • Danny Walker (Was U21s Assistant) - Now First-Team Coach at Leicester City.
  • Calum McFarlane (Was U15s Lead) - Now U18 Head Coach at Southampton
  • Adam Temple (Was U12s Lead) - Now Assistant Manager at Barrow.
  • Callum Tongue (Was U12s Lead) - Now Head of Local Recruitment at Manchester United.
  • Paul Midgley (Was Northern UK Scouting Manager) - Now Head of Youth Recruitment at Newcastle United.
  • Paul McLaren (Was Head Regional Scout) - Now Head of UK Scouting 13s to 18s at Newcastle United.
  • Joe Shields (Was Head of Academy Recruitment) - Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent at Chelsea.
  • Stewart Thompson (Was Head of UK Academy Recruitment) Now First Team Scout at Chelsea.
