Head Physio Stuart Wardle leaves Norwich City

STUART WARDLE has left his role as Head Physio at Norwich City, meaning the bosses of every football department at the club have been replaced since Sporting Director Stuart Webber took over in April.

The Head of Sports Science, Nick Davies; Academy boss Richard Money; caretaker manager Alan Irvine; and the heads of recruitment, Lee Darnborough and Tony Spearing, have all already exited since Webber was appointed.

Wardle posted a message on LinkedIn to announce his departure. Although no reason was given, TGG understands there had been tension between Wardle and the club's coaching staff over some players being sent for treatment in Germany this season.

“After seven years and three months, I have now left my role at Norwich City,” Wardle announced. “In that time I have been part of approximately 350 games and had many excellent experiences: automatic promotion with an open top bus through the city, a play-off final win at Wembley and three seasons in the Premier League, where I was one of the youngest ever Head Physios.

“I have met many great people and have learnt a lot from them. I have also met some challenging people and most importantly have learnt from them too. So as we close one door I’m excited to see which ones may open to begin the next part of my career.”

Meanwhile, TGG understands another senior member of staff has left the club: Gregg Broughton, the Head of Academy Recruitment. He joined from Luton in July 2012, before being promoted to Academy Manager in July 2014, only to go back to his original role last October.

It's certainly hard to keep pace with the revolving door at Norwich this year.
